Welcome to the QV1 Descent!

The aim of the QV1 Descent is to raise much needed funds to support the important work we do in providing social, recreational and sporting opportunities for people with disabilities. In 2020, the QV1 Descent will take place between 30 and 31 October 2020.

Research shows there is a 30% participation gap in sport, recreation and social programs between people with a physical disability and their able bodied peers. Our aim is to narrow this gap. We want children and adults with a physical disability to have the same opportunities as their able bodied peers. Having a disability should not impact on your ability to lead a full and happy life.

The Descent

The QV1 is WA's highest single pitch building Abseil which challenges people to confront their fears and abseil down 40 storeys while raising funds for Rebound WA. The main aims of the QV1 Descent are to:

- Raise much needed funds to help us continue the work we do; and

- Raise awareness of the work we do in the community.

How it Works

The QV1 descent encourages all participants to attend a pre-abseil training session prior to the event day. This will cover all the important steps to provide you with a clear understanding of the techniques required for your descent. The cost of this training session is $100.

If you have already completed a QV1 Descent, please contact Tim prior to your registration as this will need to be verified to receive a training exemption.

All participants must pay a $150 registration fee, which partially covers the costs of running the event. In addition to this, participants have a minimum fundraising amount of $1000, to help cover Rebound WA’s costs and help our charity to deliver ongoing programs for people with a disability.

Fundraise $1250 and we will refund your initial payment thereby allowing you to abseil for free! On top of that, this amount also entitles you abseil first then have a second, much faster, go down the building on the Building Top Zipline!

How can the funds I raise help?

- $1,000 – Represents the average cost of a young child with a disability and their family to attend a recreational camp for the weekend to participate in a fantastic range of inclusive activities and games.

- $2,000 – Can allow a Rebound WA staff member and athlete to attend a rehabilitation hospital to introduce in-patients to the world of disability sports and the opportunities available.

- $5,000 – Represents the cost of a hand-cycle we loan to children and adults to regain their independence following a life changing injury – it starts them on their journey of building a new life
